Deborah L. Hill Program Coordinator, Austin Community College

Deborah L. Hill serves as the Program Coordinator for the RTF area at Austin Community College. She teaches a variety of production, and lecture classes for ACC. She is presently working with subject matter experts in the film and digital entertainment communities to develop curriculum needed for students to perform in these occupational areas.

 

George Warmingham

George Warmingham worked for Time Warner Cable in Austin for 26 years. He retired as Program Director in 2008. In the early 1980s he was the General Manager of what was then Austin Community Television (ACTV). Mr. Warmingham is now an adjunct instructor in the Radio-Television-Film department at Austin Community College.

 

Kim McCarson Executive Director, 91.7 FM KOOP Community Radio

Kim McCarson became the Executive Director of KOOP Community Radio in 2006. She moved to Austin from Asheville, North Carolina where she most recently worked for the Western North Carolina Regional Economic Development Commission and was part owner of La Voz Independiente. Ms. McCarson has a Master of Public Administration degree from George Washington University and is an alum of the University of Texas at Austin.  

 

Natomi A. Austin Talk Show Host "The Wake Up Call", 88.7 FM KAZI

In the summer of 2008 Ms. Austin joined KAZI radio station as a morning talk show host, “The Wake Up Call”. “The Wake Up Call” is an audience interactive talk show that highlights the hot topics of the National political arena, issues that concern the Greater Austin area and the African American community. She first aired on KAZI under the guidance of Kenneth Thompson, a long time host of “The Wake Up Call”. Ms. Austin’s show airs every Thursday at 7am on KAZI 88.7 FM, The Voice of Austin. Ms. Austin is currently the President of Black Austin Democrats, the Vice-President of Finance for the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats ,a former officer of the Capitol City Young Democrats ,a member of the NAACP Austin Chapter ,and an active member of the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, led by Pastor Gaylon Clark. She associates herself with many political and community driven organizations in Austin, Texas and throughout the United States.

 

David Karabinas Operational Manager, Texas Crew

David Karabinas joined the Texas Crew in 1996 as Production Manager in order to assist with the coordination of logistical operations for the Texas Crew’s coverage of the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay. Following the 1996 Olympic Games, David took over day to day management and coordination for Texas Crew’s field production services and has managed, overseen, field-produced, or coordinated hundreds of television shoots around the globe for clients such as CBS News 60 Minutes, NBC Nightly News, ABC Sports, ESPN, CNN, HBO Sports, PBS Frontline, Dan Rather Reports, BBC World News, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.

 

Scott D. Roberts, PH.D. Professor in Digital Media Business Management, St. Edwards University

Scott D. Roberts is an Associate Dean, MBA Director, and Associate Professor of Marketing at St. Edwards University. He moved to Austin in 2007 after holding faculty positions at several universities, including most recently Roger Williams University and Northern Arizona University. He received his PH.D. in Marketing from the University of Utah in 1988.

 

JJ Weber Broadcast Operations Manager, KLRU TV

JJ Weber is the Broadcast Operations Manager at KLRU where he is responsible for KLRU’s 24/7 on-air television operations. He manages the production crew for all KLRU productions, including Austin City Limits, Texas Monthly Talks, Docubloggers, Central Texas Gardener, and In Context. Before moving to Austin in 2003, he lived in Tucson, Arizona, where he also worked in media production and received his BA in Media Arts from the University of Arizona.  

 

Chad Williams Web Designer, IBM

Chad Williams served on the Austin Community Technology and Telecommunications Commission from 2002-2008, including serving as chair of the commission. During that time, he also served as vice chair the the city's Charter Revision Committee (2007). While on the Telecommunications Commission, he led the effort to expand funding for the Grant for Technology Opportunities and led efforts to help secure revenues for capital equipment purchases for public access television (channelAustin). As a lifelong Democrat, he has served as precinct chair for two precincts in Travis County and is a past president of West Austin Democrats. Besides serving on the Board of channelAustin, he also serves on the Advisory Committee for Liveable City. He received a Master of Arts in English from Texas State University in 1996.

 

Daniel Scardino (Ex Officio) Attorney, Jackson Walker, L.L.P.

Daniel Scardino is an associate in the Intellectual Property and Transactional sections of Jackson Walker. His practice consists primarily of representing media and entertainment industry clients in a variety of intellectual property and corporate matters, including licensing, copyright, trademark, securities, mergers, acquisitions and corporate governance. Mr. Scardino has also assisted in the pre-distribution development and production of music, film, and television projects.
