Fall 2010 Series Packet Now Available

The Fall 2010 Series Packet is available. A series is a regular show that appears in the same time slot, on the same channel, during a 4 month long season. If you would to have a regular series program, complete and submit the packet by no later than Friday, September 10, 2010. The fall season begins October 1.

Austin's RARE magazine has published an excellent article about channelAustin's program mix in its July/August edition. In "Austin Public Access: From The Conventional To The Absurd", writer Daniel Sargaent captures the diversity of styles and points of view. "Aside from pure unadulterated entertainment, channelAustin also serves as a vital resource for beginning and professional filmmakers in the Austin area," writes Sargaent.

Technical Problems with Master Control

*** The problem has been resolved and channels are airing again.
channelAustin is currently experiencing technical problems with the Master Control playback system in the building. And as a result the channels are not properly displaying. Please be patient while we attempt to resolve this problem. We will provide more information as soon as possible. Thank you.

Time Warner Cable changing the delivery of Public, Educational, and Government access (PEG) channels

Effective October 1, 2010 Time Warner Cable customers will need digital equipment such as a digital set-top box, a CableCARD-equipped Unidirectional Digital Cable Product (UDCP), or a digital television (or other device) equipped with a QAM tuner to continue viewing Public, Educational, and Government access (PEG) channels.
 

Roundtable Discussion on Future of Community Media

There is a roundtable discussion this Wednesday, July 14, at 6:00 PM at the Austin Community Technology and Telecommunications Commission regarding the future of public access and community media in Austin. The meeting takes place in Rm 1101 in City Hall  at 301 W. Second St.

channelAustin's EXSE Summer Jam 2010 is coming soon. The Summer Jam will feature a full day of Austin bands performing on channelAustin's Ch. 10 on Saturday, July 17, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. channelAustin is taking applications from Austin musicians interested in participating through June 30. Austin Juneteenth Parade to be broadcast on two local networks

channelAustin is pleased to announce that it will join KLRU in a simultaneous broadcast of this year’s Juneteenth parade and celebration.
 
The parade will be air live on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on channelAustin’s cable channel 10 and on Austin’s PBS station KLRU on broadcast channel 18.3.
 

June 9 Public Hearing on RFP for Community Television

channelAustin's management contract with the City of Austin expires on September 30, 2011. Later in 2010, the City will issue a Request For Proposals (RFP) for the management of Austin's community television channels, resources, and building for a period beginning October 1, 2011.
